Hi, I'm Andrew, a photographer and camera reviewer based in the Pacific Northwest.
I started shooting in 2003 with a Pentax K1000 and manual-focus film, learning exposure and composition before autofocus could compensate. By 2010, photography became a serious practice, and I've spent the years since shooting street, travel, and landscape work across Western Canada.
At Lens & Shutter, I test cameras and lenses through extended real-world use. I evaluate autofocus reliability with moving subjects, low-light performance in actual challenging conditions, and ergonomics that matter after hours of shooting in Pacific Northwest weather. My reviews focus on how gear performs when conditions aren't ideal, because that's when differences actually matter.
My kit changes with each review, but my approach stays consistent: multi-day testing, varied environments, and honest assessment of what works and what doesn't.
When I'm not testing gear, I'm usually somewhere between Vancouver and the Rockies with whatever camera I'm currently reviewing.
